Rahu Kalam is one of the eight segments of the day considered inauspicious in Hindu Vedic astrology.
The segments are calculated by dividing the time between sunrise and sunset into eight equal periods.

Rahu Kalam is traditionally considered a time to avoid beginning a new enterprise or project.

It usually lasts between 60 and 90 minutes, with its timing changing each day according to astrological calculations.

I created this artwork imagining the fictional existence of a physical Rahu Kalam Calculator. The eight arms in the center represent the eight divisions of daylight. The information travels downward through the zigzag of springs, while the pendant resembles a sword, dividing the time before and after Rahu Kalam.
