Maybe is my background as an Architect that brings this up but most of my artworks are spaces where I tell stories.
I want that the viewer get inside this space, that he/she travels with me to the inside view - inside a box, inside a painting.
There are many layers, many views. They are not to be viewed from a distance.
It is an invitation to to see the details from a close perspective and to understand how it was built.
All of this is part of a sensorial experience of seeing/enjoying a piece of art, I believe.
My style is loosely based on Brutalism - a short tendency in Architecture in the 50’s-70’s gap.
On that school of thought the infrastructure of a building was not hidden. Au contraire, eletric wires, conduits, plumbing and other details were apparent to the user, making part of the visual result.
I like to show how I made my piece.
Most of time the use of glue is restricted to a minimum and all the screws and mending plates are visible.
The eletrical components are there, but sometimes having a different use.
The beauty is in the knowledge and truth. |

Usually I create after choosing a subject, or after I want to express something. Giving a title after the piece is ready will not work.

Creating is tapping into a pre existing layer of knowledge--I have to understand what my subconscious wants to know, what my souls is searching: maybe something that I read, one idea from a movie, or a playful idea that makes me smile (Where the cats Dream, Watching squirrels through my window)
But I have to understand the subject in a deeper way bringing them into matter in a mechanical form. I try to solve it physically what is this thing, concept or phenomenon.
How it should be. And how it would work in the sense of energy flowing from the Source.

I assemble objects which energy wise match each other. They are in the same frequency with my objective as well.
The found objects that I use are cleared by prior residue energies: sanded, painted, brushed, waxed or whatever needs to be done.

When I reuse a wood object I want to honor the tree which that wood came from - or, honor the being which that tree was prior becoming a object.
I see its veins, I wax it to show its beauty in a more visible way.
If I could, I would bring that tree to life. But as I am not able to do it, I bring life to the object which I’m creating.
We live in a society that discards everything without thinking where those things came from or what damage is going to make to our environment.
I believe we, artists, can make a difference on this aspect.

If my art will be a standing object in somebody’s house I want that this piece be a frozen object radiating joy and wellness.
When I’m working on a piece there is no anger, no depression or sadness.
I am not protesting and saying that this is a cruel and unfair world--I’m bringing in that moment my best to this reality, the best from my soul.

I am not searching for beauty. Some of my art are not “beautiful”.
But they are versions of an understanding that my souls is getting when it is tapping into the Akashic knowledge.

My creation is a process where a thought becomes reality - intentionally.
They are spaces, assemblages, paintings mixed together.
The material is reused, repurposed.
They already have an identity and they call for my attention inspiring me, to certain aspects that I should try to understand as well.
They are windows of a different perception which is non linear needing space to manifest and breath.
It is a glimpse, almost a blind glimpse of what really is.

Most of the time the Divine is present: a round shape at the top - the Source.
The energy flows through the chains and pendulums and paintings to reach wherever we are, always flowing to us.
And grounding us as well.
