The ancient Greeks had two words for time, Chronos and Kairos. Chronos refers to chronological or sequential time which is quantitative.
Kairos means the right or opportune moment -- the time in between - that is, a moment of indeterminate time in which something special happens-- it has a qualitative nature.
On this artwork Chronos is represented by the horizontal shapes: the battered wood, the horizontal canvases, the dark wood, and the metallic plates that go along with this.
Chronos follows the rules of space & time.
So, there are limits, it is contained: things get old, wood gets rotten - as an example.
On the other hand, Kairos breaks - or shifts - these rules.
It is the time where the connection with the Divine is made -- it is a parenthesis, a bracket in our lives.
There is no time.
