This artwork is playfully based on the song The House of The Rising Sun (made famous by The Animals) where the lyrics start with:
“There is a house down in New Orleans they call the rising sun…”
But at the same time there is a reference to Japan - which is called ‘The Land Of The rising Sun’.
The Japanese culture is expressed in the structure of this artwork: samurais, swords, metal & wood, formality and manners.
The painting in the center is about another day that is beginning, bringing us hope.
