Title: Houston…We Have A Problem
Assemblage with plastics and electronic waste
15x18x1in.
This artwork is about hope.
As humanity faces the challenges of climate change, perhaps we too can find solutions and safely navigate our way back to a more stable situation.
The piece was created using recycled Legos, a monitor frame, and a computer keyboard.
It was inspired by my fascination with space travel—particularly the iconic Apollo missions to the Moon—and I let my imagination take flight.
In 1970, Apollo 13 encountered a critical problem but managed to safely return to Earth using the ingenuity of the crew and the lunar module.
The original phrase was: “Okay, Houston. I believe we’ve had a problem here.”
Over time, it evolved into its shorter, iconic form, a symbol of resilience and problem-solving under pressure. |
