The icon - Benten, the Japanese Goddess from The Seven Gods of Luck -
is the Buddhist patron goddess of literature and music, wealth and femininity.
She is also identified with the Hindu goddess Saraswati, a patron of literature and the arts,
who probably travelled to Japan along with Buddhism
